Shopping on Black Friday…

Published by marihayes at 8:16 am under Uncategorized Edit This

People, if you go out on Black Friday -Be Prepared! It is a war zone out there. This was my first time-an unprepared virgin-out in the vicious, cut throat world of Shopping Hell! I’m not being dramatic, it is the truth.

Usually my BF Mike goes and does this nasty deed, but this year he asked me to go, and since I didn’t have to work I figured what the heck, it can’t be that bad… Oh boy was I in for a wake up call!

We normally wake up early for work at 4:30 and also to fish on our days off, so that wasn’t a big deal. There were alot of cars out on the road for that time, but when we got near our destination-Route 1 in Attleboro Mass., it was insane. There are tons of stores lined up in malls on both sides of the road, and every parking lot was jammed. We had to park in another lot 300 yards away, then when we got to the store, the line wrapped around the building! It was 5 people wide and when the doors opened, enough people filed in to fill the store to legal capacity and we had to wait until people came out so we could go in. We talked to people who had friends who camped out since 5 the night before to secure a spot. They were not giving away a thing in this store. We were waiting in line to buy crap from them. The people who froze all night got in 15 minutes before us. Hardly seems worth it to me. But, we got in, got our sales items and looked for the checkout. After finding the end of the line- about 3 hundred people in front of me, I questioned my bf on whether the sales price was really worth it. He assured me that this was worth the effort. Of course he isn’t 5′2″ and had huge people pushing him and bumping into him. I finally hit this ignorant lady right in the butt with my daughter’s guitar box, after she bumped into me about five times with her huge butt. She almost knocked me down backing into me. Then another lady walked right into me yaking on a cell phone. She was walking and talking and not looking forward! Did she apologize? Hell no.. she just kept walking like I wasn’t even there. I was really glad when we got out of there.

Then there was Walmart…Let’s just say that it took 45 minutes to find a parking spot. People were trolling like sharks ready to attack. They were parking EVERYWHERE!You know the little bushes with the mulch, between groups of spaces? Those bushes didn’t stand a chance. Some SUVs got their first taste of offroad, let’s say. Inside it was no better. There was a freakshow going on of massive proportions. I wish I could have been in the security booth to view this from a safe distance. It would have been amusing instead of annoying. Got out without having to defend myself with a gift- score one for me.

We stopped to get breakfast before heading up Rt. 1 to Patriot’s Place to go to our Mecca- Bass Pro Shops. We spent a long time in there, but at least it wasn’t crazy. Got alot of things for Mike and a few things for myself and we were off. Imagine that-no incidents of rudeness or stupidity. It faked us out and gave us a false sense of hope for the rest of the trip.

Then we kept going, because I’m a glutton for punishment and hit 6 more places before we were done. I was worn down, broke, and my feet and my back were killing me. We went home with our pile of stuff. Then we had to unload the truck. Holy Cow! It’s only starting and I need a vacation.
