Be Green-Small Changes Help
Some people are under the impression that you have to be rich, or a tree hugger to be green. I’m not suggesting that you live in a dirt house, sell your car and go dumpster diving. Trust me- I’m not! It is pretty easy to save some serious money with just a few minor changes.
First of all, try to change out your lightbulbs for the new style bulbs. Don’t throw out your old ones to replace them-wait until they die and replace them then. Why throw away something that is still working? That would not be too green. Right on the box it tells you how much watts it uses and how much light it throws out.It is easy and a good energy saver. For those of you with odd kinds of bulbs, companies are constantly coming out with new replacements, like for chandeliers and floodlights and pot lights.
Another easy way to save money while helping the environment, is in the way you cut the lawn. Raise the mower cutting height one inch and you won’t have to water nearly as much. I also have a mulching mower. If you already have a regular mower, you can get replacement blades that cut up the clippings fine. they fall into the grass and melt into the soil, fertilizing it for free. I never have put out a bag of clipping ever! My parents used this method so it was second nature. Imagine how many bags would stay out of the dump if everyone did this. So I don’t rake(less work), buy less garbage bags($$$), fertilize grass for free($$$,TIME), use less water($$$)and it’s good for the planet! My next step will be to get an electric model.
This is just the beginning, I will post more each day. Thanks for stopping by…
